Who I am
My name is Alexis, and I am, hopefully, your future editor. To truly understand me and my passion for editing, I feel it’s important to share my journey.
I grew up in a small Ohio town, shaped by a conservative, faith-driven family—a foundation that didn’t quite align with my own identity. That sense of not fitting in left me grappling with mental health challenges throughout college. I searched for light in the darkness, but nothing ever seemed to last.
While working at a daycare, I stumbled upon BookTok and rekindled my love for reading. Soon after, I began writing my own novel, though I discovered my true passion when helping a friend edit her manuscript. Immersed in a community that shared my love for books, I finally felt a sense of belonging and fulfillment. That’s when I realized editing was not just a hobby but a calling—something that brought me immense joy and purpose. I wanted to help others build worlds where readers could escape, just as I had.
Years later, I took a leap of faith, offering freelance editing services pro bono. Eventually, I transitioned to part-time work to focus on growing my client base.
Editing has become my light in a dark world—a space where I can silence my inner battles. It’s a passion so close to my heart that I’m willing to take risks, much like the story of warriors who burned their ships upon reaching land, determined to succeed or die trying. While failure is a real possibility, I’m driven by my belief in this path. I’ve been fortunate enough to have people believe in me, and I hope you’ll be the next to take that chance.

Kindly email me a comprehensive list of trigger warnings, a synopsis, and a writing sample—one chapter for manuscripts or a single page for essays. If these materials are not yet finalized, feel free to send what you currently have. This will provide valuable insight into your work, allowing me to tailor the consultation to your specific needs.

I am highly flexible and will adapt to your preferred level of involvement. Some authors prefer that all changes be presented as suggestions for their approval, while others are comfortable with minor edits being made directly, with only significant revisions highlighted for review. I am open to either approach, and we will establish clear guidelines before I begin working on your document

If your manuscript is still in progress and the final word count has yet to be determined, I offer flexible pay-as-you-go options. However, I kindly request that you have at least 10,000 words completed, with payment submitted prior to the start of my work on your document.

For manuscripts, a single chapter of your choice will suffice and for essays, a single page.

I primarily specialize in Fantasy and Romance novels. While I am open to working with all genres, non-specialized genres are subject to a more selective review process. My focus is predominantly on fiction; however, I am open to considering select nonfiction projects."

This process is highly adaptable to your specific needs. The majority of my feedback will be provided through in-line edits and document comments. However, many authors I’ve worked with have requested video or phone consultations, particularly for storyline development or complex scenes. These calls can occur as frequently as several times a week or as infrequently as biweekly, depending on what you feel would be most beneficial for your progress.
